Artist's Comments
This started out as a doodle last Friday that just sorta ran away. It has some anatomy issues (his right foot shouldn't twist like that, I know) and the background is kinda blah, but it IS a background. If you notice anything else wierd, critiques are welcome.
Anyway, this is Riker, a rarely mentioned and even more rarely drawn character from my story. He looks a lot like is older brother Jerrar ([link]) but if you stood them side-by-side, you could easily tell the difference. Riker's about a head shorter, has a much longer mane, paler fur, and bright green eyes. He's also much more relaxed and fun-loving than his brother. Endearing little guy, I should draw him more. I imagine that he and his comrad are hiding out in a cave. Luckily they have a bright lantern. They are escaping certain death, but Riker is still cheerful. What are they running from? They are enemies of some group of people, a group of people on horseback!
I love the fur texture and the detailed decorations on his body.

It's uncannily creepy, actually. He and his brother are talking in the king's study in the underground stronghold of their pack's territory. Jerrar (his brother) is anxious, but Riker continually tries to reassure him and cheer him up. They are awaiting the arrival of ambassadors from a nearby Human tribe - nomadic horsemen who were at war with their people nearly two hundred years ago.
Your 'Forest Melody' actually reminded me of their pack, which is why I fav'd it. I didn't even know that there were musicians on dA and, being the type of person who can't carry a tune in a bucket, I am in awe of anyone who can. I'm going to check out the rest of your gallery as soon as I can!
